Exclusive: Her Excellency Sheikha Bodour Al Qasimi, Launches “Bait Elowal”

VOGUE ARABIA: “Bait Elowal” is an Emirati word that reflects the tradition of welcoming travellers back to their families, offering a sense of refuge, belonging, and comfort. This unique venue celebrates the rich culinary traditions of the Silk Road while honouring Sharjah’s historical role as a vibrant trading hub.

Nestled in the Heart of Sharjah, a beautifully restored district with winding alleys, traditional souks, and historic museums, “Bait Elowal” is a testament to Emirati culture. The two-story heritage house, formerly known as Beit al Mazrou, is over a century old and overlooks Sharjah Creek from Al Merraijja Square. The house’s architecture preserves the region’s history and the central courtyard, adorned with a tranquil central fountain and jewelled with Moroccan Zellige tiles, creates a picturesque dining ambiance. Renovated in 2024, the structure retains its thick walls, flat roofs, and intricately carved wooden doors. The ground-floor courtyard features the “Bait Elowal” main restaurant, Soghat Lowal, and Al Kutubkhana, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. On the rooftop, Al Marmas Teahouse and Al Atlas offer serene views of the creek—ideal settings for yoga sessions or intimate gatherings where guests can appreciate the steady flow of dhows and boats.
